Fast or slow calorie increase?

I'm eating way less than I should be and I want to eat about 800-1000 more calories than I am now. would it be safe to add 800+ calories right away (like over a week) or should I make it more gradual (like 200+ every week/10 days)?

  1. it all depends on how many calories you're eating right now. If you eat a lot more calories then what your body is used to, you're going to gain weight really fast. But if you gradually increase the amount, by say 100-150 calories each week, you're body will adjust more and you won't gain weight and if you do, it'll only be like a pound.
