Faster internet speed

my download is only around 600 kbps and upload is 180/ is there any way to make it faster for free. i have a netgear wireless connection through a westell modem

First of all do a speed test on

How did you get your 600 kbps  and 180 kbps.

The download speed depends from what website you are downloading.

I have a download speed of 1.9mb p/s.

Most of the time I get a download speed between 900 kbps and 1400kbps

When however I download from download.com my download speed is never more than 400 kbps. Download.com is a very popular download site and there you only get about a third of your normal download speed.

When I have a large file , I google for the program to find another download site. For a small file I stay put.

Run a spyware scan, and defrag your computer.  If it's still not running as fast as you want to, delete unused programs from your computer.
