  1. Wanna watch the fastest delivery?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hX1uyX9jK...

  2. I could be wrong on this.

However the Guiness book of records listed Jeff Thompson; an Australian bowler has delivering one recorded at 99.5 miles an hour in 1975, I think.

I'm sure it was in an ashes series that was played in England.

    Addenda:

Kinghitz and Sarah N both have made extremely good points.

  3. its akhter... but shaun tait has clocked above 100 mph as well..

  4. I was under the impression it was Shoaib Akhtar to Nick Knight but apparently Mohammed Sami has bowled a ball of 101.9 mph and the proof is right here http://youtube.com/watch?v=cLMnVuRsg80&f...

  5. shoiab akhtar 100+ mph in australia

  6. shoaib is still the world's fastest bowler.his action generates a lot of space. But Ishant also has the potential to become the world's fastest bowler.the second fastest delivery was bowled by brett lee in the 2003 world cup final when sourav ganguly got clean bowled

  7. The fastest delivery that has ever been officially recorded in cricket was at 161.3 km/h (100.2 mph), bowled by Shoaib Akhtar of Pakistan during a match against England in the 2003 Cricket World Cup.

The batsman on the end of the delivery was Nick Knight; however, his wicket remained intact.

  8. Depends who you ask ... s****.Aktor has delivered the fastest measured delivery.  However there are many other contenders.  Jeff Thompson was only ever measured after a recovery from a serious shoulder injury and still managed 99.8mph. Larwood was also very fast and had a nasty bouncer ;-)  Frank Tyson as some former Test players will atest was the fastest. Several of the West Indies bowlers like Andy Roberts or Wes Hall were considered extreme express.  So either go with the modern tested players or accept that there have been faster bowlers that we have not been able to test.

My own opinion is that Jeff Thompson before he was injured was the fastest so far by a long way.

  9. i agree with jk

  10. Shoaib Akhtar...but i think he should be stripped of this label after the way he's taken his career for granted.

  11. Shoaib Akhtar! 101.1 mph in a 2003 world cup game against England.

  12. Right now it is Shoaib Akhtar.

Kinghitz has made a valid point about Thommo.

  13. Shoaib Akhtar bowled a yorker to Nick Knight at 161.3 kmph against England World cup 2003.

  14. The fastest delivery that has ever been officially recorded clocked in at 161.3 km/h (100.2 mph) and was bowled by Shoaib Akhtar of Pakistan during a match against England in the 2003 Cricket World Cup. The batsman on the end of the delivery was Nick Knight.

The match was played at Newlands Cricket Ground, Cape Town, South Africa.  22 February, 2003

There are  three other Bowlers who have been very little below or have touched the 100 MPH barrier. Shaun Tait, Brett Lee and Mohammad Sami

  15. It was Shoaib Akhtar. During the 2003 world cup he bowled a ball that travelled at 161.3 Kph or 100.2 mph.

Brett Lee managed 98.4 mph (also at the 2003 world cup) and is the second fastest.

Jeff Thompson bowled at 99.8 mph. But I don't think it was under match conditions, rather it was done while under study.
