  1. i guess that everyone forgets that the record for stolen bases,in one year, is an unheard-of, 110 set by,obviously is the fastest, vince coleman. i believe he stole over 90 the next year. those years were '84 and '85.

  2. I like the Cool Papa Bell reference but I will go with world class sprinter Herb Washington.  A fast runner is not necessarily a freat base stealer, Washington was signed by the A's in the 70's to be a designated runner and it did not work out because he was a fast guy that did not know how to run the bases, Henderson was not in any way the fastest guy ever, he was fast but his base stealing was more a result of his knowledge of how to steal bases than a matter of him being fast, Vince Coleman was probably faster than Henderson in Henderson's own time.

  3. Probably not the fastest but has to be up there....Lou Brock.

  4. rick henderson and carl crawford

  5. david wells

  6. Gotta be Willie Davis. Dodger center-fielder all through the sixties and early seventies.

    Played 1960 through 1979.

    LA, 1960-1973

Montreal 1974 and part of 1975.

    Montreal and Texas, 1975.

    San Diego, 1976.

    California Angels, 1979

Between first and third, this guy was a "long legged, I think" blurrrr.

Or between first and home. (Same thing)

Not a great base stealer, but a good one.  Stole 42 in 1964. Had a career total of 398 stolen bases.

He had 13 seasons of stealing 20 or more bases.

He lead the NL twice in triples.

Won three Gold Gloves, 1971 through 1973.

He did have 31 game hitting streak, which is still a Dodger record.

  7. billy hamilton to me was the best base stealer of all time many don't know about him...but fastest player rickey of course has to be up there

  8. I dunno, I think Juan Pierre or Jose Reyes could have burned Henderson.

  9. Ichiro, Juan Pierre, I know they're not the fastest but I'm just adding people to the list.

  10. Ricky Henderson. That's a no brainer.

  11. Ricky Henderson. His records say it all. No one is even close.

  12. Henderson owns the most stolen bases, but i think Ty Cobb was the fastest ever.  He have stolen home so many times, it just crazy.  He have also stolen second, third and home in sequence four times in his career! cmon, thats hard to do.  Ty Cobb all the way.

  13. i'm 14 and ichiro is the fastest in my lifetime. Go Rangers !!

  14. Past: Ricky Henderson

    Present:Ichiro or Reyes

  15. cool papa bell is right! and i have heard that story about him too. ricky henderson has to be, hands down. but current ones could be gathright and michael bourn, but they aren't regulars :(! crawford is fast, so is reyes, what about eugenio velz of SF, have you seen him run. but he needs to improve on when you are supposed to run, because the opponents can read him really well sometimes. all time= rickey

  16. I understand Cool Papa Bell  was amazingly fast.

Right now, I think Joey Gaithright holds the title.

PS  A great base stealer does not mean they were the fastest and just because you're fastest does not make you a great base stealer.

  17. If Jose Reyes tried,he could easily lead the league in SB.

  18. Cool Papa Bell. He could turn the lights out and get under the covers before the room turned dark.

  19. some of the fastest and my all time favorite-

    1) Ricky Henderson

    2) Bo Jackson

    3) kenny lofton
