Fastest digital camera under $200?

My wife and I are looking for a digital camera with these characteristics:

1. Small, pocket size

2. Starts up and takes pictures very quickly

3. Face detection

4. At least 8 megapixels, preferably 10

5. Long battery life

6. Under $200

Any help is appreciated.

wow....your asking alot for under 200$....i would go with the Canon Powershot SD 1100 IS. It has 8 megapixels, face detection, a charge up battery, a variety of colors, 3.0 optical zoom, is light weight, and very stylish. Though it's about $249, you can go to Costo and they have it for cheaper and includes a memory card.

I would go with the Canon PowerShot A720 IS. Has face detection, 8 megapixels, 6X optical zoom, and image stabilizer. Set controls manually or leave on auto.

There are a number of options when you lower your limit on megapixels to 7 or so.

In fact, megapixels are not what you should be concerned about unless you plan on PRINTING (not just viewing) at poster size, 6 or 7 megapixels will be more than you need.  Look for one that has at least 3x optical zoom, preferably 4, but it might be tough to get one for under $200 .

For $200 I would go with the Canon sd750. 7.1 megapixels, very small and takes great pics. Battery life is really good.
