  1. FA22 Raptor

    or...

    the Mach 5 =]

  2. SR-71 Blackbird. Official record is Mach 3.3

  3. SR71

  4. SR-71 (Blackbird)

The Lockheed SR-71 is an advanced, long-range, Mach 3 strategic reconnaissance aircraft developed from the Lockheed YF-12A and A-12 aircraft by the Lockheed Skunk Works. The SR-71 was unofficially named the Blackbird. A defensive feature of the aircraft was its high speed and operating altitude, whereby, if a surface-to-air missile launch were detected, standard evasive action was simply to accelerate.

    Maximum speed: Mach 3.2+ (2,200+ mph, 3530+ km/h) at 80,000 ft (24,000 m)

On 28 July 1976, an SR-71 broke the world record for its class: an absolute speed record of 1905.80993 knots (2,193.1669 mph, 3,529.56 km/h), and an "absolute altitude record" of 85,068.997 feet (25,929 m). Several airplanes exceeded this altitude in zoom climbs but not in sustained flight.

  5. I have to agree, the X43 using scramjet technology achieved a confirmed 10.0 Mach.

If you are talking OPERATIONAL jet, then it's the SR71.  Capable of 3.5Mach plus. (It would likely run out of fuel before maxing out its top true air speed. This from some friends of mine who were Blackbird bubbas.)

The X15 wasn't a "jet aircraft", if that's what you're hinting at, it was rocket powered.

  6. The X-43A flew at nearly Mach 10 on November 16 2004.

Notice that "fastest jet" does not imply "with a crew on board", or anything else in terms of it not being air launched, rocket boosted to speed, flying long range, or even landing safely (the X-43 essentially crash lands in the ocean).

Fastest jet means "using jet engine" which implies air breathing, and that the X-43A does.

  7. u look like me

  8. My opinion is the one my dad used to fly... The Viper  ( F-16 )
