Not any of the trains between NY Penn Station and Secaucus, NJ for sure.  They're always delayed, taking too much time and making me late.

It depends on what exactly you mean in terms of the speed.  The overall MAX speed is held by the TGV Atlantique at approximately 320 mph or around 515 kph.  That is the overall record.  Now trains are NOT made to operate at that speed sustained....most are in the 125 to 160 mph due to track concerns etc.  The next generation of trains to run will be looking to push that envelope to around 180 mph, sustained average, followed by the next generation which will be near 225 mph in revenue service.  It's not the train technology that is holding them back....it's the track technology which is very outdated yet would cost hundreds of millions of dollars to upgrade the infrastructure to allow these new speed averages to occur.  They essentially have to lay new "high speed track" (which is already being done across France and Germany and Japan) which will be dedicated to high speed rail only.  Whenever normal track is used for the trains, they usually do not exceed around 130 mph due to curves, terrain and maintenance concerns. The Maglev is the fastest, however the fastest Passenger Service is in France and was won last year I believe.

Even though the TGV's top speed is lower; in day to day travel its top speed is higher than the magvels at 320 km/h

I saw a video of the Chinese train, it's as fast as a low flying fighter jet. There's no way I'd ride on one, I'd want an ejector seat and parachute.
