Fri was our district track meet and my coach really wanted us to win so i was signed up to the most amount of events. The first race was the 2mile and the girl i was racing against for 1st burned me out so much just to come in 2nd. Then the next race was the mile which was just 20min away I decided to go out hard anyway because my coach told me he really needed me to score. I came in 2nd burning out everything i had left...again. I went over to do the tripple jump right after, and then i ran back to check in for the 800 and because i didn't get to warm up i felt really tight. I was dead and couldn't even really stride out during the race, but my coach yelled at me to get up there so i burned what ever exsisted in me to come in 5th. At the finishline, it turned out i made finals for tripple jump so I went back to do it all over again. I'm so sore it's hard for me to walk around. I NEED to get better by Wed's meet b/c if i miss that, then i have no chance of state what so ever! help me!!

  1. Stretching *may* help depending on the extent of your soreness. If the soreness turns into pain as you stretch, stop and just give that muscle some time to heal. Anti inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen can lessen the immediate pain, but it has been argued that they may also limit muscle gain.

Also, make sure to ice up to decrease any sort of swelling that have may occurred. And alway drink lots of liquids a week before any big event, this may prevent any type of muscle soreness afterwards in the near future.

    Good Luck

  2. Try to get as much rest as possible and if any certain muscles are sore make sure to ice them.  A few times in the hot tube or a hot bath might help.  Since your race is so soon don't worry about losing speed or endurance.  It takes over two week to see noticeable loss of performance.

  3. rest, ice, warmth and aspirin.
