1. It sounds a lot like wet tail.

If you can't afford to spend £30, then you shouldn't have a pet. What if he's in pain? I'm sure those symptoms bring him discomfort!

If you take him to the vets and tell them you can't afford the treatment, they may lower the price for you. If not then it's bye bye hammie, because if you don't take him to the vets then you are an irresponsible owner and are breaking the law by neglecting his medical needs! However you obviously care about him very much, and so I don't think you are.

Do the right, responsible thing and take him to the vets, today if possible! If you don't take him to the vets now, you'll have the guilt on your concience for the rest of your life that you didn't stop his suffering. Even putting him out of his misery and having him put to sleep is better than leaving him like that, and you will feel much better when you know he's not suffering any more. It may not be too late, and the sooner you get him to the vets, the higher the chance is of him surviving!

Please take him to the vets, it sounds like you care about him. Borrow money from friends, relatives, and ask the vet if they could lower the price because you are very upset and worried about him.

Good luck, God bless your Hamster.

  2. That definitely sounds like WET TAIL!

Hurry and take him to the Vets before it's too late!

    I's sure it's wet tail.

This disease is a life threatening one in rodents, and a very few of them survives.

I've had one of my hamsters had a wet tail, and she didn't survive.

You might also notice this in your hamster.

He'll be walking with a hunch.

Then it is definitely wet tail.

Please take fast action before it's too late.

You might still be able to save it's life.

In the meantime, clean out his cage and disinfect it.

Don't give it any fruits or vegetables.

    No milk.

Just a small piece of bread and seeds and pellets.

Remove the sunflower seeds if they are in the food.

And don't let it stress...keep him in a dark room, and don't make noises.

Then take it to a vet please.

Oh yes, did you move him to a new room before he contracted the disease?

If so, then it might have been the stress, as the hamsters get stressed if anything goes wrong around them than the usual schedules.

    They do not like changes.

Oh yes, you spell it *diarrhea

    Good luck with your hammy.

I wish you both all the very best.

EDIT: If you don't have the money to spend on the hammy, then ask your mommy or daddy to pay.

You can't obviously risk his life just because of some cash...money would come and go.

If you still can't, then at least take it to the pet shop and ske them to help you out...they usually have medicines for hamsters, and they know how to treat them.

Or perhaps you can take it to your local hamster breeder...they are also good at treating them.

Sometimes they do it for free, or sometimes for a less amount.

    Have a Good Day!

  3. Sorry but this sounds like renal failure, this is where the kidneys fail to function properly. Abdominal distention and loss of weight around the rest of the body, suggests that he is retaining fluid, this could his problem. Does he seem to drink more than he wee's. Is the skin on his tummy pinkish, purple in colour.

He really needs to see a vet, but if that is the problem, there will be very little he can do for him.

  4. It does sound like Wet Tail, if it is the prognosis for you little hammie's survival is poor. But saying that there are plenty of other illnesses with similar symptoms. BUT DONT TAKE THE RISK!!! With Wet Tail I dont think you have swelling in the lower abdomen area so this could be another illness or tumour.... By the way, dont get another hamster if you cannot afford the vets bills. I dont wanna sound mean and i'm not saying you're selfish cos ur obviously not, cos ur worried, but in its in the hamsters best interest. £30 is not alot of money, try and borrow it. Good Luck x*x

  5. Please please please take him to the vet NOW!!!!!

Three hours ago I discovered one of my mice dead. She had most of the symptoms you have described (looking fat but could feel spine and shoulder blades , bloated stomach) You seriously need to take him to the vet now! My darling was active and eating and running around until just before she died, so being active doesn't mean anything. Rodents tend to hide their pain for fear of being preyed upon.

BTW, Why the heck do you have pets if you don't have the money to take them to the vet??????????? THAT IS CRUEL!!! Go without a meal or something, don't make the poor darling suffer. If you don't take him to a vet you don't deserve pets!!!!! I don't care what you have to gog without, don't take your financial difficulties out on an animal, no matter how small!

  6. Take him to the vets! They are the experts!

  7. he could have a tumour linked up to his kidneys. That is where the swelling is. I know you don't want to take him to the vet, but if you really love him and want him to live, then take him to the vet

  8. i think he has wet tail take him 2 the vets asap
