  1. A lower bounce will help you to hit less fat shots with the lob wedge.  A high bounce is good for sand shots, but it's hard to hit a high bounce club clean from the fairway or any type of "tight" lie.

  2. Bounce only affects club performance whenever it is exposed to the hitting turf, i.e. you open the wedge enough.  Fat shots are most common with your higher lofted clubs because the the more upright plane that is naturally created because the club is shorter. Since wedge shots are typically "short shots" you can help stop this by staying more centered over the golf ball in your back swing, even to the point of keeping weight on your left side.  You don't need the big weight shift of say a driver in short shots, the point is to hit it shorter than full.  This is not areverse pivot if you keep it there the entire time.  Also if you try this make sure your back bicept stays close to your side on your backswing, this will shallow out the steeper plane of a wedge.  At impact always be sure your belt buckle is ahead of the golf ball, doing so will almost always insure the apex of your golf swing arc is ahead of the ball, thus contacting the ball first and pinching it against the turf.  Try this.  For more tips go to my website www.centralarkansasgolfacademy.com

  3. I wouldn't worry so much about the bounce, but rather your swing. Keep your hands in front of the ball and take every lie into careful consideration. How deep does the club need to go to hit the shot pure? If its too low you will be fat and short every time. To high and you will skull or blade it. The most important lesson i ever got was to accelerate all the way through the ball. If you decelerate you lose control, distance, feel, consistency and worst of all, golf balls.

My favorite saying is that it's always the indian, never the arrow.  A good indian can shoot a bad arrow, but a bad indian cant hit a target with a good arrow.

Good luck and hit em straight.

  4. Check out Scratch Golf's website. They make some of the best wedges on the planet, and offer several bounce options depending on how you hit your wedges (or irons in general).

  5. high bounce will help more, are you shooting out of the sand?

If not the key is not to hit it fat. Bounce makes the club not dig in the sand hence "bounce"
