Question:

Father & Daughter Dance?

My father is a very quiet and shy man. He has stressed to my mother and I that he does not want to do the father/daughter dance because he would be too nervous. He is already nervous about walking me down the aisle in front of about 160 guests. My father and I have a very close relationship. I want to respect his wishes, but at the same time I want to do something at my reception to show him how special he is to me. Any suggestions.

  1. Make a speech about him

  2. Could you perhaps dedicate a song to him? Like just have the DJ announce that the bride dedicates this to her father, then they could play the song, but he doesn't have to dance.

  3. well - I dont know if it's in your budget but many DJ's provide 50" screens to have a slide show - why not play a special song and instead of dancing just have a moment to look at pictures (slide show) of you and your dad while you were growing up

  4. Pick the song that you would have picked to dance with him, and create a slideshow of pictures to show up on the screen. Have everything from his first picture of you to your first bike ride (probably with him holding you up), to your graduation. (And if your photographer is using digital photography, you could probably have the last one being of him walking you down the aisle, but I would talk to your photographer on that one first.)

  5. I'm in a situation that's close, except my FH is the terribly shy one. He knows we have to do our first dance (or at least will do it for my sake), but was stressing over the mother-son dance. I'm a bit shy as well, so what we decided to do was a combined father/daughter & mother/son dance......that way there will be 4 of us up there dancing together.

Ask your dad if something like that would be ok. Other than that, is there any song that reminds you of him that you could have dedicated to him?
