Father refuses to fill out fasfa form for college?

What to do??? Im very poor, and my mother is deceased!!! I have an old pay stub from 2006 of my dads, and his social security Number. Would that help? PLEASE HELP ME!!

  1. Why does he refuse? There's no reason to refuse. Does he not want you to know what he makes? Just have him fill it out and promise not to go back and look at it. Don't use the 2006 stub.


  2. Do you already have your mind made up on where you want to go to school? More specifically I guess, have you been admitted somewhere, decided that's the place for you, and you're now just looking for a way to pay for it? If that's the case, contact your school directly and explain the situation. My understanding is that a lot of schools will work to make other arrangements (sometimes based off of your own income) or maybe even have another relative do the FAFSA for you. (Though really, the only thing "free" from the fafsa is the application itself, but that's a whole other rant..)

    So yeah, that's my advice. If you don't know for certain yet where you're attending, do that first. Once you've got that part down, contact their financial aid office directly and explain the situation. In the meantime, hopefully your dad comes around and does the simple paperwork to help you out!
