Question:

Fatmat VS. Dynamat?

Ok, so I have loud rattling in my car and it's from my subwoofers in the trunk. The only non-experience I have with audio is sound dampening. Fatmat and Dynamat are the two brand's I'm looking at. They each offer a trunk kit with 5 18X36" sheets. Dynamat is just popular because everyone knows it works, but Fatmat is cheaper and comes with a roller, instructions (so does dynamat) and says that if you double the layer it improves quality by 3 times. Does dynamat do the same, and should I pay an extra $30 for it?

Also where is a place I can take the dynamat to be installed. Will be expensive I know because everything must be taken out to install. I know where the rattling is occuring, but have never installed so I don't want to waste a dime doing this. Thanks!

  1. First, Fat mat and Dynamat are so similar it is hard to really make that judgment call. I've have really good experiences with both. Go with which ever is the cheapest or which ever will get to you first. That is really up to you.

You'd probably be looking at a 100-300 dollars to get it installed. It can get pretty pricey. If you are mechanically inclined at all I would suggest you install it yourself. It's really not that hard. Just cut it to fit, Lay it out, heat and roll. You can use a blow drier if you don't have a heat gun. But, it takes a little longer the make it pliable.

  2. get e dead its just like dynamat but way cheaper
