Question:

Faulty timer at geelong vs fremantle?

did anyone else see ten seconds being wiped off the clock just before harry taylor took the mark?

even the commentators on channel 7 had no idea what was going.

i admit i was going for geelong, but i find it a bit suss that there was a change in timing for the reigning premiers.

especially when they were winning by one point.

two questions...

would there be any chance it couldve been rigged?

[although i think that thats very unlikely.]

and...

should channel 7 revert to the count up clock like channel 10 to avoid this mix-up?

im sure this issue will come up in the press sometime during the week...

  1. Yeah I saw the jump in time and wondered Wat The h**l?

I'm not 100% but I've been told its the different grounds that count up or down..

In Melbourne they count up and at Subi they count down..

    Have to check it out..

But I'm sure it'll get plenty of air time so we'll be hearing bout it..

  2. 9 seconds were lost

fremantle r going appeal this decision

  3. OMG thanks mate for clearing my mind. i was watchin it wid my sista and when there were 10 secs left i said to her relax cos they stil got 5 mins left. she was like no no and i was like yes yes! than when the secs finished the game finished and than i didn't realise that both 7 and 10 hv different time systems, until u tell me now. u r one legend dude. back to your question, yes yes channel 7 needs to use the 10 time system cos i like how the red timer comes up and the fans really know whats going on.

  4. You are Spot on, I was listening to the radio station 6PR as I am overseas, they said the umpire had called for the clock to be stopped, which the time-keeper let it go for 9-seconds. When the siren blew, the team at 6PR dismissed this, said Fremantle fans might felt a little hard-done by, but that was the game.

However, yes 9 seconds had been wasted and I agree it is the principle, but Fremantle had leads, then they trailed, to which Matthew Pavlich could have won the game, but by the slightest of margins didn't...So really under the circumstances the Fremantle fans will feel even harder done by because of the circumstances.

It is unfortunate as Fremantle deserved the win & Geelong had been playing terribly. Fremantle will appeal this decision, but sorry Docker fans; you won't get the 4 points for this game :(

  5. Yes, I saw it.

    No, it wasn't rigged.

C7 doesn't have control of the clock - the AFL has official time-keepers.

Anyway, it couldn't have happened to a better team! Fremantle deserve all they get. What comes around, goes around.

  6. check out this website

  7. I'm not sure if anyone else notice this, but before the first bounce it was FRE - 6, GEE - 0 it was then fixed back to 0-0.

I didn't see all the match unfortunately, had an early night after waking up at 3.00am that morning.

  8. the umpire didnt call time off

  9. Yeah I saw it.

I hope they didn't rig it, cause then AFL would become like Italian soccer...

and yeah I like the count up clock better anyway

it helps build up the suspense for me, cause you never know when it's going to end.

  10. the loss of 9 or 10 seconds would not have mattered because harry taylor took the mark and would have run down those seconds anyway...

i hate the count up clock because you never know when its going to end... plus this could have happened to other teams when the clock is count up and we wouldn't even know.

  11. I still am not sure that what shows on the time remaining matches the clock in the time keepers box. It has only to be at least a guess, doesn't it.

I think the time elapsed should be shown, part of the suspense of footy is not really knowing how much time is remaining, go, go, go until the siren sounds.

  12. i am so angry freo could have won though they will get over it also i went to the game and pav missed that shot and mcmanus also missed

  13. nah i didnt, but that was after a few beers

  14. That was stupid, I don't why the clock was still ticking but in a way it was all Mathew Pavlich's fault. If he had a goal then Geelong would be on the way to a loosing strwak but no they had to win.
