Question:

Faulty washing machine ...... 9 weeks old

i bought a washing machine 9 weeks ago from currys and it has failed.

currys refuse to replace it, offering only to send a repair man in 4 days time.

the machine was bought for my mother, who is 93 and needs to have a reliable model.

can anyone please advise my position?

  1. The best advice is to call for service and find out what is wrong with the machine first, then go from there. It might be a fault with the equipment or operator error at this ponit  who knows.


  2. 9 weeks old it's under warranty. Let them come fix it but it shouldn't cost anything. Have your mothers purchase papers and all the papers that came with the machine handy, then if they try to bill you refuse. Major appliances usually have a 1 year minimum warranty.

  3. they dont have to replace it unless it cant be fixed, i have had to hand over   114 euro this morning to get my dryer fixed. it was over the year guarantee. its how they make money of us people.
