Fausto Carmona’s quality pitching helps Cleveland Indians to their 10th straight home win – MLB News
Fausto Carmona’s solid pitching and some brutal hitting from Cleveland Indians’ batters helped the side surge past Kansas City Royals 8-2, to complete their third clean sweep of the season, in a match held at the Progressive Field on Thursday, April 28,
2011.
Carmona pitched seven innings and allowed only two runs on four hits and two walks.  He remained much disciplined in his first six innings, allowing only three harmless hits with no walk. However in the seventh innings, he became a bit worn out and allowed
two walks and two hits that went for a couple of runs.
This win is Carmona’ second of the season, which is a good recovery after going 3-0 down at the start of the season. Tony Sipp and Justin Germano followed him with perfect eighth and one-hitter score-less ninth inning.
On the other hand, Royals’ starter, Kyle Davies, is struggling this season with a 1-3 record and a 7.98 ERA. He had another bad day to his name as he leaked plenty of runs in his fourth innings. The 27-year-old Davies was welcomed by two towering homers
in the first inning of the game, but he calmed down proceedings in the second innings that went score-less.
Shelley Duncan, Orlando Cabrera and Michael Brantley, Jack Hannahan and Grady Sizemore, all scored-off him in the fourth inning, to put the game out of Royals’ reach. He allowed nine hits, went for eight runs in a mere 3.1 innings. His reliever, Tim Collins,
did a pretty handsome job and remained score-less in his 2.2 innings. Blake Wood and Aaron Crow combined to throw score-less two innings.
This was Indians’ tenth straight win at home and they are just two games away to break the all time Franchise record for most wins at home. They are currently leading the American League Central Zone with a .667 winning percentage and are far ahead of the
second ranked team, Detroit Tigers , who have a .480 winning percentage.
Scoring Summary:
1st inning:
Shin-Soo Choo opened the scoring with his solo home-run to the centre-field.

3rd inning:

4th inning:
Shelley Duncan hit fourth homer of the game to the left-field.
Orlando Cabrera and Michael Brantley scored on Jack Hannahan’s double to the right-field.
Sizemore doubled to the deep left centre field to bring Hannahan at home.
Asdrubal Cabrera hit an RBI double to the right, Sizemore safe at base plate, 8-0 for the Indians at the end of fourth inning.
7th inning:
