Fave quinoa recipes?

Also, I have heard you have to rinse it because of the saponins (bitter coating to protect against insects). I tried to sprout them but it went bad and I found out that you are only supposed to soak them about 6 hours and I did it overnight and they rotted :(

  1. Yes, you should rinse them prior to use. It doesn't take that long - only a few minutes - and you are rid of the bitter flavor.

I really don't have a fave recipe. I just use it where I would normally use brown rice. I use it when I make tofu stir fry, when I stuff green peppers, when I have burritos...etc. It's versatile and very good for you. I love the nutty flavor.

  2. I am so glad you wrote this question! I tried quinoa the other week and it was REALLY hard to eat! I just couldn't understand what happened...now I know I have to rinse it! Thanks so much for this heads up!!

I have only made it with water as a hot cereal, and I can tell that if I rinse it, it will be really good! Now I'm eager to try it in some other dishes!

    Thanks again!
