Favorite Darlington Finish?

Mine was the one they just showed on Raceday with Jeff Burton winning the 1999 TranSouth Financial 400. Winning under the rain after he wrecked his car. Giving him the nickname "Rainman"

  1. 2003. Ricky Craven and Kurt Busch. That's easy because that is my all time favorite finish. Then it's the '07 Daytona 500.


  2. I liked the 2003 race myself.  

    But why was it ok to try and wreck each other that day but not last week?  That's what they did.    I don't get it.

    Did I rattle someones cage?... as Dale Sr said after taking out Terry at Bristol.

  3. Oh yea,  thats my fav. also.  Nothing like a big crash, lead car in the crash, and its my fav. driver.  Then the rain. Thank God for the rain that day.

  6. I really liked the burton one too but the 2003 ricky craven and Kurt busch finish was spectacular

  7. no question - 2003 craven/busch battle for the finish.  those last three or so laps were some of the best beatin' and bangin' without either driver losing it i've ever seen.  and to top it off, they slid "locked together" waaaay past the finish line and still both held it together. even being a busch brothers fan, just to see that - even with kurt losing by "the kickout" of craven's car's nose - was one of the most exciting finishes anywhere, not just darlington.

    close second, the "thinking man's (way out strategy call) finish" - 1999 with burton staying out on that beatup car with wrong-way front right tire to take the "rainman" win.

  8. 2003 - Ricky Craven beat Kurt Busch.  Best race finish I've ever seen.

  9. I was there in 2003 for the Busch/Craven tag team match, dang that was a great race..Theres some more back in the late 60's and 70's as well...

    The Craven/Busch race in 2003 was great as well.
