  2. My Goldfish! I'll talk about Buster since it's his 8th b-day :D

Size: A little over 4in. now

Color: Natural colors, he's a Ryukin Goldfish or however you spell it.

Life Span: 20yrs. but they can live over that if you take good care of them.

Tank size: 10gal. but you have to clean his tank alot more often w/a 10gal. so I would go with a 20 gallon.

Enviorment: 1 plant, bubbler, filter, rocks. They don't really need any decorations.

    He loves Oranges and peas!

    A$H!

  3. The big problem with your list is almost any fish will eat any other fish that will fit into its mouth.  Fish are terrible cannibals!  Except for cory cats and plecos and they are not very colorful.

I love my guppies, but I think my favorite would have to be the betta.   You could argue that some will eat guppy fry but neither of mine do.  They're very peaceful.  My betta is just such an intelligent fish.  It's so easy to train him to do all kinds of things.  Bettas are about 3" long, come in just about any color or combo of colors you can imagine, live for 5-6 years if kept in the right conditions, should have at least a 5 gallon tank of 76-80 degrees, no current in the water, and low light.  They eat primarily protein based foods, including earthworm flakes and love bloodworms!  Mine has learned to jump up out of the water and take freeze dried bloodworms off of my finger.  He will also dance with me.  :)

My guppies are beautiful and fun and easy to breed, but they're just not that bright.

  4. betta, purple, 3-5 yr., 2-4 inches, small tank, tropical, they jump out of the water when i feed them the remind me of dolphins when they jump out of water.

  5. not sure what its called but its really cool and it glows in the dark not sure on anything else

  6. Zebra danios, around 1-2 inches, black and white, 5 for 3, any, really fast!

I cant think of any other fish fitting your description.

Most fish that are too big to be eaten, eat other fish.

Most fish that are too small to eat other fish are small enough to be eaten. Except Zebra Danios that is. Possibly even tiger barbs.

  7. Well, technicaly any fish can eat other fish or get eaten by other fish, ya know. Big fish eat little fish. Its the food chain. My favorite OTHER than bettas is dwarf gouramis! They are about 3 inches, come in lots of different colors, flame color- http://www.kristenbmiller.com/pix/dfg222...

Normal color that you will find in most pet stores- http://www.aqua-fish.net/imgs/fish/colis...

    Powder blue color- http://z.about.com/d/freshaquarium/1/0/Q...

    Sunset color- http://www.abc.net.au/science/news/img/e...

I think that is all the colors! They live about 3 years and need a minimum tank size of 5 gallons, I have a new baby sunset in a 6 gallon! He's so cute! ^^

They also love a well planted tank with lots of hiding spots!=)

  8. Um, a goldfish. They are small, orange and live about two years or so. Tank size is small. They're easy to take care of! :)

  9. I have a tank full of nothing but Neon tetra's, there's about 50 of them.  They are beautiful and I haven't lost a single one in nearly 2 years.

    More info below...

  10. a lionhead goldfish

    size 6-8 inches

    color-calico orange red black

    life span-up to 20 years

    tank size-20 gallons

  11. TANGS/SUNRGEON FISH ARE GREAT ,LARDER ANGEL FISH TRIGGERS,

all of them are saltwater/marine fish

  12. A gourami!!!

Size: One and a half to four inches

Color: Many Different colors to choose from

    Life span: Approx 4 years

Breeding: Under good tank conditions, breeding gouramis is relatively easy. The fish will pair off readily. The male will build a bubble nest, so you'll want to be sure that the current is not too strong. You should also consider some floating plants to assist in keeping the nest together. After spawning, the male will guard the nest and eggs until they hatch 1 to 2 days later. You should remove the females As soon as possible after spawning. You'll also want to remove the male a day or two after the eggs hatch so he doesn't eat the fry.

    Tank Size: 15 gallon

    Tank levels: Middle and high

    Temperature: 74-82 F (24-28 C)

Diet: Gouramis will accept many foods, and are generally quite easy to feed. Flake, freeze dried, and frozen foods are all readily taken. For optimum health fresh vegetables such as lettuce, cooked peas, and spinach, may also be offered as part of a varied diet . Live foods such as black worms, brine shrimp, and glass worms are a good treat and conditioning food for breeding.

*There are many different species of Gouramies

    HOPE I HELPED! :D

  13. Dwarf Gourami

Adult size is 2-2.5 inches, life span in captivity is about 4-5 years.  Minimum tank size is about 10 Gallons, and the environment is lots of plant cover.

These little fish are easy to keep.  They are very colorful and you can get the Dwarf Neon Blue Gourami or the Dwarf Flame Gourami.  One to a tank with a school of 6 neon Tetra and bout 3 cory cats works great.  Right now, I have one in my 55 Gallon with many other fish.  My tank has lots of plant cover and he goes all over the tank.  I have him in there with Angels, a Kissing Gourami (was a little worried, cause Gourami will fight at times), Tiger Barbs, and Giant Danios...as well as a Red Tail Shark and 5 Albino Cory Cats.  He has been in there for 6 months and gets along fine with the other fish.  I have one also in another tank with 6 Neon Tetra, 6 Black light Tetra, and a female Betta.  Again, no issue and it has been over a year this tank has been with these fish.  You want to avoid another male Dwarf and a Male Betta.  They are from the same family and will fight or chase the other to submission and possible death.

EDIT---There are many different types of Gourami...some actually get pretty big.  These are the smallest of the species.  Some different types can grow to 4 inches and others to 12 inches.  I have a Kissing Gourami that is now 7-8 inches.

    Best of Luck!

  14. Hey There :-)

Google images for Ram/Dwarf/Butterfly Cichlid (they go by different names) I was introduced to them about 1 year ago and have never looked back.

They are vibrant yellow, with a black mohican, red eyes and a black stripe that goes through the eye. They look like little punk rockers :-) They are excellent to watch as always jetting around the tank being nosey and always coming up to the glass to see you. Very sociable and do not bully. Also quick enough to escape being another fish's dinner.

Excellent breeding. I would recommend you get a pair as amazing to watch and the colour really comes out. Check them out on You Tube.

    Hope this helps :-)

  15. blow fish

  16. The most enjoyable way to learn about fish is to go to a reputable pet shop. Petland staff are quite knowledgeable. They can tell you all about community fish, semi-aggressive fish, and aggressive fish. They carry a wide variety of community fish that will live together in harmony. However, fish flakes is the cheapest type of food and has the least amount of nutrients for your fish and will shorten their life span. Have fun at the pet store!

  17. calvus (black)

    5 inches

    black and white

    30-50 gallons

they are slow growers but easily my favorite fish, both looks and attitude.
