  1. prego all the way,now with 5 great flavors. try it tonight!!!

  2. clasico !!! but it at the store!

  3. I prefer to make my own. Basically it is a can of tomato sauce + two cans of water, two lbs. of burger, onion, green pepper, mushrooms, basil, garlic salt, salt and pepper. Everyone likes things a little different. I like my sauce a little thick.

You can also add a little brown sugar - it helps take out the tomato acid and gives it a very nice flavor.

  4. I'm a recipe-less Italian too... I have my own version of Pasta sauce... It's a little bit like Napolitana, with a hint of Olives and and sometimes Capers.

  5. there are some recipes on http://www.dummychef.com that you can try

  6. I buy a can of the cheap 4 cheese sauce and add a can of diced tomatoes, mushrooms, a pound of cooked hamburger meat, some cooked onion and bell pepper, some garlic and a dash of italian seasoning.

  7. I love to make it myself.  It is so much cheaper, and really easy.  I just buy tomato sauce and add olive oil, then you can add all kinds of things according to your preference:

    oregano

    basil

    garlic

    onion

    salt/pepper

    red pepper

    sugar

    red wine

    vinegar

    grn peppers

    mushrooms

  8. Fresh Tomato Sauce

    8 roma (plum) tomatoes, diced

    1/2 cup Italian dressing

1/4 cup finely chopped fresh basil

    1/4 cup diced red onion

    1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

    DIRECTIONS

Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Place the penne pasta in the pot, cook 10 minutes, until al dente, and drain.

In a large bowl, toss the cooked pasta with the tomatoes, Italian dressing, basil, red onion, and Parmesan cheese.

    Alfredo Sauce

    1/4 cup butter

    1 cup heavy cream

    1 clove garlic, crushed

1 1/2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese

    1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

    DIRECTIONS

Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium low heat. Add cream and simmer for 5 minutes, then add garlic and cheese and whisk quickly, heating through. Stir in parsley and serve.

  9. Depends on the budget and time of year.

    I love bertolli's vodka sauce.

But my favorite is my own putanesca, which I make with crushed garlic, Extra Virgin olive oil, onions, chopped tomato, oil cured black or green olives and a sprinkle of oil packed capers. Basil, thyme, oregano. Salt and pepper. I'll whatever extra meat and veggies I have on hand.

Saute the garlic and onions in oil until tender then add the rest of the stuff, simmer a few minutes and add hot drained pasta.

Yum.  Now I'm hungry! guess what I'm having for dinner?
