  1. TALISMAN!

  2. We always play yahtzee. Most everyone likes it.

  3. word racer

    nice

    monopoly 56

  4. Mmm.. I'm only 14, but I'd say Risk. It's a strategy based game, and it's pretty fun. You can have up to 5 or 6 players I think, can't remember.

  5. Candyland with different choice drinks for each of the themes you may stop at.  Shots that are similar to the areas you may land could be cool!  Be careful and don't play on an empty stomach.

  6. Ticket To RIde

    Settlers of Catan

    Bang!

    Can't Stop

    Liar's Dice

    Niagara

    PitchCar

    Wits & Wagers

Someone suggested Imperial, Reef Encounter, & Tigris & Euphrates... Those are all fairly advanced, and I wouldn't recommend them to someone starting out with modern boardgames.

  7. My favorite board game is called HIVE.. but it's only for two players.. and I assume you want a multi-player game. The following are several multi-player games I enjoy:

    Imperial

    Reef Encounter

    Tigris & Euphrates

If you're looking for the "next" Monopoly.. I'd recommend The Settlers of Catan.

  8. Apples to apples is amazing its soo simple too i one of the girls in my dorm introduced me to it a while ago it is a very fun! i also like taboo, the scene its are fun, battle of the sexes, loaded questions, there are a ton of good ones good luck!

  9. Cranium is the best board game ever and is brilliant when played by a group of adults even (or especially) when they've had a drink or three. It's like a combination of Pictionary, Trivial Pursuit and Charades mixed with some funny word games (spelling backwards, anagrams, definitions etc.) and there's a sort of sculpture Pictionary (with Cranium Clay).

  10. You might like True Colors.

It is a really fun game. And people in their 20's will surely love it.

you all have a different color and then you all pick a different card and you read your card and pick the color card of some you think fits the description on the card. Like it would say, who would be more likely to........ So then you would think about each person and put that persons color in the box and pass it on to the next person box and card. Then you will get everyones quesion and put a color in everyones box. Then when all the boxes get back to the person, you will read your question aloud and open your box to see who got the most votes for that question. And some of the questions will make you laugh.

  11. go-moku

it is a bit like tick tack toe but it is fun!

    chess

    it makes you think critically

  12. Warhammer its a bourd game were you build and paint your own army, and then use them in battles of two or more armies.

I would recomend this game for anyone 12 and up who loves statogy.

PS: you can have an infinent number of players.

  13. taboo is a fun one to play with a group.

also scattergories, charades, pictionary, and balderdash.

personally my favorite board game is scrabble b/c it involves a lot of thinking, but it's not really considered a fun and entertaining game for a group of twenty somethings :)

  14. Ticket To Ride

    Power Grid

    Thebes

    Pillars Of The Earth

    Cuba

For the last few decades, Germany has been publishing "designer" games. These games have several traits that set them apart from traditional board games. German-style games offer more strategy, thoughtful gameplay, superior quality game components and mechanics designed by world renowned board game designers.

There are a hand full of these designer games that have broad appeal with simple mechanics, yet deep strategy. These select few have been coined with the title, "Gateway Games" because they are the best games to introduce traditional game players to wonderful designer games. Most people, especially in North America, think of Monopoly, Life, Clue and Sorry, when they think of board games. However, once people are introduced to designer games, and specifically the "Gateway Games," they have a whole new perspective on board games and become hooked.
