just watching ned and dale on nascar now and listening to how dj's going to finally "race the truck" - the big brown one - around the track with a lucky fan before the racing saturday night.

made me think about my favorite dj memories.

what are yours and how will you remember him?

  1. Dale Jarrett is Super Slow!

  2. I have many fond memories of DJ.  Loved his 1st Daytona 500 win - the Dale & Dale show.  He's probably not too proud of it, but I liked it when he got up in Shane Hmiel's face, too.

I will remember him as a clean driver and a class act.

  3. nothing to do with racing, but have mercy the first time I saw him with out that bushy caterpillar on his lip, I almost didn't recognize him!

  4. lol about time he races the truck

  5. winning the 1999 Champ

  6. Hard to say. I was always a Dale Sr. fan, but watching him win the Daytona 500 with Sr. in tow was still special. He will always be respected for his activities on and off the track. He's a true champion!

The UPS commercials will never be forgotten either!

  7. This is not a great moment in DJ history but I will always remember him hitting the wall in the Southern 500 when he was going for the Winton Million.   DJ just keyed the mic and said "I'm in the wall"  you could hear the disapointment in his voice.  Also NEd calling his first Daytona 500 win

  8. Dale jarrett winning the brickyard and kissing the bricks--he's the one who started that nascar tradition, ya know.

  9. My favorite memory of Dale Jarrett winning the Daytona 500 with his father Ned calling him home. That brought a tear to my eye. Dale is a class individual!!

Here is one that I really like too, its was in 2005 with Shane Hmeil, you gotta watch this:

  10. I loved it when he won Daytona while his dad commentated and the cameras focused in on mom in the camper. By far my most favorite dj moment. He had and has class. Many of todays younger drivers can learn alot from him. Sure glad he decided to race than to knock a white ball around a grass course.

  11. Obviously his Daytona 500 Hundred Victory when his dad was calling it. That was one of the best races I ever recall watching. Dale Jarrett has been a class act driver all the way, I can not see how anyone can dislike Dale Jarrett. One of my favorites growing up, even though he drove Ford for a long time. I have nothing but respect for DJ.

I met him at Bristol in 1998, and he shook my hand and gave me an autograph. He looked me in the eye and thanked me for supporting NASCAR. Just a really nice guy

  12. When he won the Daytona 500 and his father Ned went nuts announcing it.

  13. 1993 Daytona 500-The Dale & Dale Show

But you can't go wrong when he's driving the Big Brown Truck.

Without a dobut, he will be remembered as the "Gentleman of NASCAR."

  14. I will remember all the good things he's done for the sport and his great driving abilitys plus him being a clean driver Dale will be missed

  15. theres a lot

meeting him 3 times hes really nice

    his 2nd daytona 500 win

    his championship

kissing the bricks at the brickyard

the the fans holding up signs that said thanks dale on his last points race

also watching ned call the race when dale won his 1st daytona 500 even though i only saw it on youtube (i was to young to remember that)

  16. Just listening to Ned calling the Daytona 500 race on Tv when son Dale won, talk about proud Papa..and also when Dale kissed the bricks at the brickyard..and another off race memory, of my dad playing golf with him and a couple buddies, my dad said he could have had a won a couple Green Jackets if he had chosen Golf instead of racing.. Look forward to him in the booth now...Thanks for years of great racing memories, really one of the last real class acts out there..
