Without mentioning any specific players or world records, tell me what your favorite game of pool is (8-ball, 9-ball, 14.1, etc.) and why. What do you feel are the unique differences between the games? Feel free to elaborate on this. M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

  1. 9 ball baby because there easy im not saying that i dont know the rest of different kind of games i just like quick games and my favorite player is efren rayes and  ibough a 2000 pool stick

  2. 8 Ball would have to be the favorite just because that's the game most everyone knows and what most tend to play. probably 19 times out of 20, I'm playing 8 ball.  8 ball is definitely best when playing with people less than your calibur.

9 ball I like best when playing with someone who is clearly better than me. Although I am quite good, I love watching people play their "placement game". As you know, follow up is everything. Any improvement in that area is always welcome.

Straight pool and Solitaire are my favorites for challenge bets.

  3. Well, I just love the game of 8 ball.  I like 9 ball, too.  I don't know what 14.1 is.  I have tried to play snooker a few times and it is really quite tough.  I think that 8 ball is a much harder game to play than 9 ball.  One of the reasons for this is that there are just more balls on the table in 8 ball and it absolutely calls for more precision than 9 ball.  One of my favorite games to play is bumper pool.  It's a blast.  Very challenging.  I used to have a bumper pool table and just couldn't keep people out of my house.  I really don't play much pool anymore, I shoot darts now.  But I love to watch the pool players on TV.  Any chance I get.  They are just amazing.  I just recently moved to South Jersey, near Atlantic City, and just can't wait to get tickets to one of the major tournaments played there.

  4. i would play 9 ball of course. Anyway, snooker remains my favourite game.why dont you try snooker? Its much more challenging than pool since it is just a simplified version of snooker. Cue ball control is very vital. Potting is much tougher and the cueing is more difficult.

  5. 8-ball - When I am playing against someone for fun.

9-ball - When I practice by myself or when I am gambling.

  6. I enjoy 9 ball for it is much more challenging and requires I think far more skill then 8 ball......8 ball is fun but too much of "chess" match in that you really have to think but you can still get out of line but so many balls out there that you can just change your run out.....can't do that too much with 9 ball......14:1.....only played it a couple of times but a lot easier game if you an just master the break shot when down to the last ball......some thinking here but lots of balls to get in and only worrying about the break ball..........I am defensive minded and 8 ball has too much to think about......so I will settle for 9 ball.....just knock them in and only thinking about 3 at a time......maybe a breakout here and there but much easier along the thinking part but still a lot more skill.....

  7. I play one pocket quite a bit , it really improves your game if you have a game , and it is good for gambling as well ,

  8. 8 ball because it is the funnest game
