i have a package of regular tofu and i dont know what to make with it..

any suggestions?

  1. I cut it into thick sticks, marinate it in barbeque sauce and grill it on the barbeque.


  2. Vegetable Tofu Stir-Fry

    1 tablespoon vegetable oil

    1/2 onion, sliced

    2 cloves garlic, finely chopped

    1 tablespoon ginger, finely chopped

    8 ounces firm or extra firm tofu, sliced into bite size pieces

    1/4 cup water

    2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar

    1 tablespoon honey or sugar

    1 tablespoon soy sauce

    1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon cold water

    1 carrot, peeled and thinly sliced on the diagonal

    1 red, yellow or green bell pepper, seeded and cut into slices

    1 small bok choy, sliced and coarsely chopped

    2 scallions, thinly sliced on the diagonal

    Heat oil over medium high heat in a large skillet or wok. Stir in onions and cook for 1 minute. Add garlic and ginger and cook for 30 seconds. Stir in tofu and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 4 minutes. In a small sauce pan combine water, rice wine vinegar, honey and soy sauce and bring to a simmer. Cook for 2 minutes and stir in cornstarch mixture. Simmer until sauce thickens. Add carrots and bell pepper to the skillet and cook for another 2 minutes. Add bok choy to skillet and toss to coat. Pour thickened sauce over vegetables and tofu. Garnish with scallions and serve immediately with rice.








  3. Scrambled with nutritional yeast, salt, and pepper.

  4. For breakfast try some scrambled tofu and splash some soy sauce on it while cooking. Add a little salt and pepper and when it turns golden brown pile it on a plate. I like mine with some ketchup but I'm strange so..

    For lunch Cook some tofu and smother it with bbq. Or you could add some cooked zucchini on top instead of the bbq.

    For dinner try some veggie stir-fry with some of your favorite veggies and add the tofu with it with some teriyaki sauce and voila!

    And if you still have some for desert mash it up and add some metled chocolate. Yum!

    I have had all of these and I love all of them. I think tofu is a very great ingredient because if absorbs all of the other flavors around. Thats why I also love to marinade it in a mixture of herbs and sauces. Hope it helps!

  5. i agree with gina, tofu is always fabulous as a stir-fry as an accompanyment to vegetables and rice. you can also fry it and use it as a substitute for bacon in a blt. tofu is also  great as a substitute for beef in lasagna.
