Favorites To Win The FIFA World Cup 2014
The FIFA World Cup 2010 might be over, but that in no way means that the foot-balling world plans on taking a break. Most people, teams, countries and fans are already looking ahead to the next edition of the World Cup that is all set to take place in Brazil in 2014. Here is a look at players who would be favorites to take home the trophy.
Portugal were eliminated in 2014 by Spain in the round of sixteen. Most of the players that featured in this tournament would be too old to make a comeback for the next one. This means that there could be a new younger generation of players who would have a hunger to win. They would however still have players such as, Ronaldo, Nani and Coentrao amongst their ranks to help provide experience to the squad.
France suffered a total meltdown this World Cup with countless problems, rumors and scandals. There has been a new manager appointed to take care of all these problems and France will be looking to redeem themselves. With the likes of, Gourcuff, Benzem and Nasri amongst their ranks they are quite likely to stun the World in Brazil
The Italians too were unusually poor in 2010. They disappointed as they failed to make it out of the group stages to begin with. Most players in the squad however, would have retired by 2014 which would pave way for the newer generation of Italian footballers, allowing them to make their mark on the international scene.
Spain are undoubtedly already being labeled as favorites to take home the trophy in 2014. This is because they would be the reigning world champions. Most of the players that made appearances in this year’s World Cup would have however retired by then. This would hardly seem to affect Spain though, as they still possess numerous young players who are capable of stepping into very large shoes. Players such as Casillas, Iniesta and Fabregas would still be around to provide the guidance the younger members of the squad would require.
Argentina would be looking to win the big one in their neighbor’s back yard. They will be looking to make history while shocking and stunning their arch rivals. Players such as Messi, Aguerro, Di Maria and Tevez would all still be around to provide the attacking flair the team would need to unlock the defenses from the rest of the world.
Brazil are obviously the biggest favorites to win the trophy, since the World Cup would be taking place in their back yard. This would only give them a reason to step their game up and impress their home crowd. They would be extremely difficult to beat with the huge levels of motivation they would have backing them in the form of an enthusiastic home crowd fueling their performances. Players such as Pato, Neymar, Hulk and Robinho would all be around to help steer the Brazilians to victory.
