Washed navy shirt which has white collar and cuffs, and now collar and cuffs are navy as well.

Is there a way to restore them to white?

  1. Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your problem!   There is a productm available in supermarkets, Wilkinsons etc.  I can't remember the name but it is a colour run remover.

Don't do anything with your shirt until you buy the stain remover then just follow the instructions on the packet.

I have seen a stain magnet advertised on the TV recently but have not used that one.

Good luck - it does work.

  2. try soaking the cuffs in hot water with bleach

  3. yes buy another

  4. take it to the dry cleaners if you really like this shirt leave it to the professials! good luck

  5. soak the shirt in cold water to release to blue  from the collar , rub some soap on the collar  and rinse in cold water with vinegar this will prevent the colour from bleeding into the white.

  6. take back the shirt and swap it for 1 with white cuffs

  7. return it to the store-it should'nt have happened or u washed it on the wrong setting

    it'll happen again?

  8. yep, i accidentally spilled clorox on me the other day and part of my  sky blue shirt turned white. If you do use that use it carefully so it doesnt turn the rest of the shirt white.

  9. There's a couple of things you can do like steeping the cuffs in bleach solution, getting a propreitery product from your supermarket or ironmongers that takes colour run out (you would require to be extremely careful with both things they didn't touch the navy which would be difficult). However, unless you washed the shirt in a temp higher than recommended on the label this shouldn't have happened so don't hesitate in returning it to where bought.  Next time hand wash and put some salt in the water to stop the colour running,
