I'm enjoying the Lee Childs series about the drifter and ex-mp(military policeman) Jack Reacher.

Great action packed, mystery/thriller genre for guys that girls also enjoy. There's at least 8 titles.

Also Conn Igulldenn. The Emporer series about Rome and now his latest part-completed series about Genghis Kahn.

Also the guy who wrote 'Fatherland' and 'Pompeii.'........can't think of his name OTTOMH, but a great author , nonetheless!

Also into Michael Connelly at moment and his Harry Bosch series of books about an LA detective.

Early Lee Childs books are good too - sometimes known as Jack Reacher books after the main character.
