I'm a coach, and I'm curious....of all the coaches you had, what made your favourite coach, well, the favourite? Was it their personality, the drills they did, or did they help you with something in particular?

  1. i think the biggest thing for a coach to bring to the team is intensity.  run drills that make the players more competitive.  Another thing i really liked about one of my coaches was that every time someone didnt make an effort for the ball, the whole team would have to get up and do 4 dive-and-rolls in a row.  My team got so much better than that because it gave us so much incentive.  I wish you the best of luck with your coaching!

  2. My favourite coach was my favourite because she was a great volleyball player, and tremendously patient with us (she coached me in Middle School). I play with her now as a high schooler in the off-season, and I really really like her as a person.

But one of my favourite things about her was that you always knew where you stood with her. You always knew that if she gave you a compliment, you had really earned, beacuse she would never coddle us. She always told us we had our parents for that. She really inspired me to love volleyball, and she has just helped me so much individually as well, which is why she has been my best coach

  3. my favorite coach was my high school freshman coach my freshman year. she was very encouraging and she always made sure that we were having fun. once your coach makes mad or pushes you TOO hard, its no fun anymore. make sure that your team will work hard, don't let them goof off, but also make sure that they are excited to come to practice every day, not dreading it. **also, have team "bonding" things (go have a bonfire, play broomball, or have a pool party) it will have your team act more like a team on the court**

  4. positive

    enthusiastic

    fun

    good personality

pushed everyone to do their best

    never had an "easy" practice

always was including everyone..(everyone was always doing something, not just sitting on the side lines watching)

always showed how much he loves volleyball

taught us stuff that was really advanced even though we were only in high school

    REALLY REALLY energetic!!!

only yelled when he needed to

even though he was short, he didn't let people bother him about it because if some one did, he would prove himself on the court

actually practiced with us...not just tossed balls at us or told us to do stuff lol he would actually get up and do the drillz with us

***hope i helped and good luck!!!

  5. what i like about the coach is the way they motivate and inspire the tea... they are the one who really plays a vital role

  6. I have 2 favorite coaches in my career in sports.

My favorite good coach was a coach that gave everything and more to the team.  The women's sports programs had little funding and the coach used her vehicle and unknown to her teams, her money.  She wanted things to be better for her teams until the system changed and made things better for her teams.  She was continuously studying to make sure she was up to date on all of the latest techniques and drills.

My favorite bad coach was a total _____.  You can fill in the blank with any negative words you want.  He was rude and only cared about himself.  He screamed at the players.  He screamed at the referees.  He was out of control during practice and the games.  The only thing I liked about him is that he cut me after the second practice.  I went to practices and to games and saw what he was like.

My good coach taught me how I wanted to be as a coach.  The team was the most important thing in her life.

The bad coach also taught me something.  I never want to be like him.  If I ever start coaching like him, I know it is time to quit coaching.

  7. i liked a coach that made us work really hard. i also liked this coach because we would be rewarded if we won. and this coach new what he was doing and put in people who could actually play rather than giving everyone a fair chance. he even warned the team in the begining. also we would play queen of the courts or some game in the last like 15 min of practice. he was hard on us but it was still a fun year

  8. I have been with this one coach for three years in my club volleyball season. I couldn't imagine being coached by anyone else. Many times if you made a mistake, instead of screaming at you she would encourage you. She would say, "Look at that form! You're almost there!" And she loved hustle plays, which made me try harder. She was also funny, and made the game fun. She gives me confidence in games, so when I get to school ball with a crazy coach, I know thanks to her i'll be fine.

Personality - Encouraging, even if they make a mistake

Discipline, if we make a stupid play, make us do pushups or situps or laps.

Kind, we want to be able to talk to you.

DON'T act intimidating...we will be scared to try new things.

  9. Well, my favorite coach was the one I had for school ball this year. I liked her because she pushed us to our limits. Also, she had this rule. If we let a ball drop or didn't make an effort, that was one suicide.
