  2. It all depends what you want from a holiday if you want peace and lovely views go to yorkshire  Will you have transport if so if you stay in Scarborough You can get to lots of lovely places from there including Whitby I always enjoy it round there but last year for change went to North Wales the scenery there was lovely

  3. The Isle of Bute in Scotland. Traffic free, full of wildlife, ever-changing countryside from pasture and woods, empty beaches to highland hills

Historic buildings.and prehistoric sites. Fishing, golf, sailing, swim with the seals, horse-riding, birding, hiking, cycling, stunning scenery, great seafood and fine local beers. NO caravans, retirement homes, bungalows, modern development of any kind. Time has stood still. 4. Cornwall. Because of the magic:)

  5. Anglesey- very pretty place, although not the warmest, driest or sunniest

  6. Dartmoor in glorious Devon, without a doubt !  It's got everything you need for the perfect holiday, stunning countryside, great accommodation, cosy old pubs and delicious cream teas !  The north and south coasts are also within easy reach, with some of the best beaches in the UK.

  7. Has to be Swanage, Dorset for me!

Gorgeous seaside town with very long sweeping sandy beach, very safe for children, punch and judy shows in the summer!!!

Great bars and restaurants, people warm and welcoming need i say more??!!

  8. Ayr in Scotland beautiful.

Filey in  England a lovely town and seaside resort

Lanberis in Wales because the mountains are all around and i love the fresh mountain air.

  9. The Lake District.

Nothing beats climbing up Striding Edge during the ascent to the summit of Helvelyn, fearing for your life as a gale force wind threatens to blow you away.

Seriously though, that mountain is beautiful from the edge side, the horse shoe with Red Tarn in the middle, Swirral Edge opposite striding edge, High Spying how and the chimney forming formidable obstacles. That last scramble to the top. Lovely, shame i've never seen the view from the top as it's always cloaked in cloud.

  10. Im gonna be a nerd and say Blackpool, a lot of people may think it's tacky but I was taken there a couple of times as a kid and it brings back good memories.

Also can't forget the beautiful Cornwall =]

  11. I love Whitby on the East coast.  It is about 75 miles from where I live (Leeds).  It is quaint, picturesque, on the coast, has lovely shops, especially in the old town and I just love to go there.

  12. Anywhere on the south west Wales coast - good , clean beaches

  14. St Andrew's.  Beautiful scenery, with a nice historical feel to the city itself.  Easy to get around and quaint as well!!

  15. Devon and Cornwall it is so pretty and unspoilt,if only the weather was as good

  16. Weymouth in Dorset, lovely beach with a shallow bay for swimming, combined with an old harbour. Plenty to do in the surrounding area.

  17. Scottish Highlands- they are stunning. I love the Lake District too but when you see how many miles the Highlands stretch on for it is unbelievable. Also there are some fantastic beaches up there and I have always been lucky with the weather!

  18. Isle of Wight cos you have to go over water to geth there so so you can con yourself into thinking you're abroad without all the hassle!

  19. i live and work in London and although London has some really amazing places to see and things to do its hard to enjoy things you see day in and day out.

me and my girlfriend have a lot of  breaks away from London within the uk and put a lot of effort and research into finding stunning places.

Our best place we seem to keep going back to is a small inn in the Wye Valley in Hereford shire. http://www.saracensheadinn.co.uk/

The food really is top notch and just siting outside the inn with a bottle of wine watching boats and Canoeist go past is very peaceful. The scenery around you is just gob smacking and directly above you is yat rock with 360deg views of the whole valley http://www.wyenot.com/yatrock.htm

there is also some good restaurants in the area if you want a night away from the Inn.

another place we love is Watergate bay in Cornwall

there are a few hotels here but the best is http://www.watergatebay.co.uk/index.htm

there is the award winning restaurant "15" (Jamie Oliver's) about 300 yards away and its right on the beach. had one of the most romantic meals ever on the balcony there watching the sun set over the sea. (you will need to book before you arrive ! as its usually booked months in advance in the busy seasons)

food is great at the hotel also and staff top notch.

our next tripp is going to be in the lake district and we are thinking of staying at the drunken duck. i have had friends stay there and its highly recommended http://www.drunkenduckinn.co.uk/
