  1. hunting, i hunt in california and you really become one with nature

  2. Muff diving at home is the best natural sport! As for the hunter above, I know that I really feel at one with nature when I hunt down animals and kill them ambush style for sport. Great feeling. Does it compensate for your smaller package?

  3. surfing and kayaking - Ecuador

  4. Walking through woods.

    The woods

  5. All time favorite without question is the C & O Canal National Park which is a man made waterway built in the early, mid 1800s before railroads changed commerce.

It runs alongside the Potomac River from Cumberland , Maryland to its terminus in Georgetown, Washington, DC, traversing a distance of 184.5 miles.

Though relatively close to major population centers at many points it is a tranquil , quiet retreat comprised of a canal that only has water in it for maybe 15% of its length, and a path beside it the width of a car (tho cars are prohibited 100%) where mules used to plod pulling barges up & down the canal.

It's an ideal spot for walking, running, biking, horseback riding, camping, rock climbing, fishing, bird watching, spelunking, canoeing, kayaking, & other opportunities in the adjacent Potomac River include jet skiing, water  skiing, boating in general, & swimming in limited locations. During the winter folks ice skate at some locations along the canal.

In addition history & architectural buffs enjoy studying the 75 lift locks, various culverts, 1/2 mile tunnel thru a mountain,  11 aqueducts which carried the canal over various rivers & creeks along its path (including the longest aqueduct still existent in the US), & dozens of other small buildings that still remain in varying conditions.

Personally I also enjoy taking photos, especially of locations which have been photographed 50,75, & 100 years ago to compare "Then w Now"

If you ever visit the Maryland , Virginia, DC, area the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal is well worth your time if you enjoy natural beauty, wildlife, recreation, & history all in one convenient spot!!
