Favourites for the upcoming Winter X Games
The fans of action sports are actively making speculations regarding the upcoming Winter X Games 15, the largest platform for extreme sports, starting on the 27th of January at Aspen, Colorado.
It is only natural to be using the results of the recent tours, such as the Winter Dew Tour and Nike 6.0 Open, as a sneak peek of what to expect in the upcoming ESPN hosted winter games. The athletes emerging as victorious are the favourites in the showdown
that approaches. Names such as Kelly Clark, Jamie Anderson, Bobby Brown, and Kevin Rolland are have earned this confidence due to their extravagant performances and bagging the top position in their respective disciples.
The Winter Dew Tour, held in Kellington Resort in Vermont, has just reached its end. Top guns of winter sports battled it out for the gold but only the most electrifying athletes were able to bag the win. This win would definitely give a boost to their confidence
as they enter the next fight.
James Anderson displayed her present form by beating Spencer O’ Brian in the Dew Tour’s Women’s final SnowBoarding event. Her epic blunt on the rail to a 5050 frontside boardslide, a sensational boardslide switch out to a Cab 5 indy, spectacular frontside
360 mute and a huge backside 180 mute was enough to beat O’ Brian’s, scoring a 91.25 points against her competitors’ 87.25.
“Jamie’s a really great competitor and she’s always able to come through in a clinch whenever anyone puts pressure on her,” the runner-up commented.
The men’s Freeski Slope was conquered by the Bobby Brown. The conqueror was given some tough competition, especially by the Swiss skier Elias Ambuhl. However Brown’s final run was a truly remarkable one, allowing him to surpass his competitor’s scores. His
final run included a frontside switch up, then a switch 270 on backside switch up to 270 out, and finally a switch on to 630 out at the top of the course. Making the air his playground, he exhibited his aerial skills in the form of a switch double rodeo 9
Japan, a left double cork 12, and a switch right double cork 9. It is quite significant to mention Brown’s defeat to Alexis Godbout in the ski slopestyle final at Nike 6.0 Open. Definitely it would make the speculators think twice before placing their bet
on Bobby Brown in the approaching competition.
The men’s freeski superpipe final went to France’s Kevin Rolland though he was closely trailed by Gus Kenworthy. It was a clear indication of the ever increasing competition and potential possessed by the rising talent to give the big names a run for their
money.
The results of the recent tours may act as a preview for the upcoming games but one cannot become too sure about anything. Some exceptional riders and skiers have surfaced and they all seem determined to make it to the top.
The close calls in the recent showdowns have acted as an encouragement for the young blood and shown them that they have what it takes to compete against the best for the title. One slip-up by even the best increases the chances of those who are closely
in pursuit. What better place to unleash their true potential than the platform provided by ESPN?
