The manager did not hesitate to praise the opposition and admitted that it was a lucky win for the hosts.
The Foals defeated Thomas Tuchel’s side at the Borussia Park with a 1-0 score line courtesy a first-half goal from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrick-Herrmann-c29275. It was the side’s tenth win of the season and the team is sitting in the top-four of the standings
table with 33 points, four points adrift of the leaders, Bayern Munich.
Monchengladbach had a miserable season last time around and finished in 16th place. They had to fight against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Bochum-c40880 in the relegation play-offs to remain in the first division and have been sensational in this campaign.
The side has made many heads turn as not many expected the impressive performances from them.
Favre admitted that his side sneaked a win against Mainz this Sunday as they played some poor football. He praised http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 for constantly piling the pressure on his side and added that the opposition deserved something from the
game. However, he is happy with the result and is sure that the players will work on the areas of improvement.
“Mainz were the better side because we gave the ball away too often. It's difficult to defend against their diamond formation. Things went better for us in the second half. I can live with a 1-0 win. If you don't play well and
still win, that's good. It wasn't a collective performance, though, and we exactly didn't show our best football,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel was satisfied with his team’s display at the Borussia Park and hailed the determination put in from the players. He insisted that it was unfortunate result for Mainz but vowed to make a strong comeback
after the winter break.
“I think we got into the game quickly in both halves. We were chasing the game for 84 minutes and that cost us a lot of energy in a busy week,” the manager concluded.
Borussia Monchengladbach will face leaders Bayern Munich at home when they return in January. A win against the Bavarians would put them within one point of the top spot.
