The Borussia Monchengladbach manager is targeting a win against Hamburg in the next Bundesliga fixture to keep up with Borussia Dortmund.
Lucien Favre has showered praise on midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrick-Herrmann-c29275 for his sensational performances in the second-half of the campaign and is confident of winning without the attacker. The player has been ruled out with a long-term
injury after breaking his collarbone in last week’s fixture against FC Kaiserslautern.
The manager admitted that Herrmann’s injury is a huge blow for his side as he has been one of the most consistent players for the Foals this season. He insisted that the midfielder has been in sensational form and has been involved
in most of the goals scored in the recent games.
“Without him, we have a different balance between our defence and our attack. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrick-c29254 has been one of the best attacking players in the league in the second half of the season and he has been involved in nearly all of our goals,”
he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Favre, however, refused to admit that the player’s absence would be a huge blow for his team’s chances to win the Bundesliga this season. He stated that the club has some brilliant players in the squad and is confident that the
club will be able to cope without him.
The tactician also refused to name Herrmann’s replacement in the game against Hamburg and claimed that he has enough time to assess the situation. He added that he will not reveal his plans until before the game and his team will
be the first one to know his decision.
“Nevertheless, we can also play good football without him, as we showed in the first half of the season. I still have time to consider what to do and I will then tell the team first who will be in the team and in the squad,” he
concluded.
Borussia Monchengladbach have been in staggering form this season and are currently ahead of the likes of Bayern Munich and Schalke on the standings table. The team is in second place, three points behind leaders, Borussia Dortmund.
