Favre getting ankle examined?
A plane was seen flying from Hattiesburg, Mississippi to Pensacola, Florida. That same plane was seen flying back to Hattiesburg later on. Why is this important? It turns out that plane contained passengers Brett Favre and his agent Bus Cook. What makes things more interesting is Favre flying from his home in Hattiesburg to Pensacola. Doctor James Andrews’ has offices located just outside of the Florida town.
Andrews is a well-known doctor amongst athletes and it’s being speculated that Favre had flown in to get an examination on his surgically repaired ankle. Favre has said that he would return for a 20th season and play with the Minnesota Vikings for the 2010 season if his ankle was ready to go.
Last week, there were reports that Favre had informed his teammates that his ankle was not healing well and he would retire. Favre and Vikings’ coach Brad Childress denied those reports as Favre has not yet decided. Doctor Andrews’ diagnosis may reveal quite a bit though about Favre’s future in football.
The Vikings have been very patient in waiting for an answer from Favre. They did not draft a quarterback and have promised Favre that he can return whenever he feels ready. The team even offered him more money if he was to come back this season, an amount that could add up to as much as $20 million. Favre has said though that money will not be a factor in determining whether he comes back, but his health will be.
Favre has been testing his ankle throughout the summer, mostly by working out with high school football players in his hometown. He has ducked questions asking about his status and is trying to keep his status quiet.
The Vikings Super Bowl hopes this season may hinge on whether Favre comes back which may be the reason why they’ve been willing to be so patient with him.
