The Borussia Monchengladbach manager has expressed his satisfaction on the draw against Fortuna Dusseldorf in the Bundesliga this weekend.
The Foals played a 0-0 draw against Fortuna Dusseldorf at the ESPRIT Arena on Saturday, September 1. Both sides had some good chances to score, but eventually failed to score a goal and the match ended goalless.
Borussia Monchengladbach manager Lucien Favre insisted that his side played well after the team’s exit from the UEFA Champions League playoff stage in mid-week. He admitted that that it was a well earned point as the opposition
has been in good form of late.
The tactician added that all the promoted teams have been in sensational form with the likes of Greuther Furth and Eintracht Frankfurt winning their respective games over the weekend. He stated that the teams who have been promoted
to the first division have great quality and that it is difficult to play against them.
“It is not bad to get point here. The teams who were promoted have all picked up points this weekend with Furth winning in Mainz and Frankfurt beating Hoffenheim 4-0. It is never easy to play against newly-promoted sides at the
start of the season,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The Foals boss added has however, called for improvement in the next league game and has admitted that the team should improve as the season commences. He stressed that the team lost the ball on many occasions and is keen to make
a few changes in the next game. The manager wants the new players to settle in with the team as soon as possible and wants improved displays from them.
“You need more acceleration in your game and we did not have that. We did not control the ball well either. We needed too long to get it under control,” Lucien Favre concluded.
