Fawad Alam dropped because of poor form: Mohsin Khan
Chief selector of Pakistan cricket team, Mohsin Khan has said that Fawad Alam has been omitted from Pakistan’s preliminary 30-man squad due to his poor form with the bat.
Alam, who was left out of the World Cup probables, has performed in bits and pieces and has scored four single-digit scores in his last eight innings.
Mohsin http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 said, "We simply could not find a place for Fawad in the squad and that was down to him not being in the sort of form needed in a tournament like the World Cup."
However, his overall career statistics reflect that he has been effective contributor in the batting line-up of Pakistan. The left-handed batsman has played 27 One Day International matches, amassing 603 runs at an average of 38, including four half centuries.
Fawad has scored two fifty-plus scores in his previous eight ODI outings, but still has not been able to impress the selectors. His last half-century came against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in Dubai in November 2010. In the third match against the Proteas, Alam scored
an unbeaten 59 runs, though his contribution was not enough for Pakistan as they lost the cliffhanger by a narrow margin of 2 runs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-c77587 added, “We are satisfied that we have selected the best squad from amongst the available players."
The PCB’s selection committee announced their world cup probables on 4 January 2011 after being granted an extension by the International Cricket Council.
Shoaib Malik, the former Pakistan captain along with leg-spin bowler Danish Kaneria have also been excluded from the squad and the PCB has not provided any reason for their exclusion. At the same time, Kamran Akmal, who has not played international cricket
since ODIs against England in 2010, has been picked for the World Cup.
Shoaib Malik, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket in August 2010. Since Akmal was cleared by the ICC, PCB had no hesitation in selecting him amongst the probables.
