Faye Hawksby’s performance becomes saviour for Cueball
In order to rescue the position and standing of the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League, Faye Hawksby emerged as the saviour with her 118 checkout.
She was able to secure the position of her institute in the competition with scores of 20 and 18 to claim 8-3 victory against Acomb A.
For Acomb Lisa Gatenby and Kate Rankeillor came to be top scorers. In the final pairing that took place between Louise Iceton and Lynn Green at Crystal Palace, they were able to steal the show with a 7-4 win at Burton WMC.
Along with Acomb A, B division of the team could not perform well also. With the team falling short on players, they gifted their points to their opponent Leeman B.
It is important to mention here that the skipper of the team, Doreen Johnstone, was able to establish a positive score on the board with the help of a 21-darter.
It came as no big task for Carole Salkeld and Carline Whittaker to easily acquire match points. Walnut, like all other teams, once again showed why they prefer to remain at the top.
They were still able to reserve their place in the first division. However, unfortunately, they could not attain full house in the presence of Bootham Club’s Julia Hagyard.
The second place was sealed by Tramways with the outstanding performance delivered by their captain and vice captain Sue Lowery and Jo Hodges, respectively.
On the other hand, Clifton went in with a tie against Five Lions with a score line of 3-3 at the end of the game.
The top-tier team of the third division, Edinburgh was defeated by second seed d**k Turpin.
Turpin was able to override its opponent team with Katie Barton scoring a 70 when paired with Sarah Brown. The score played an important role in helping the team securing the match point.
Similarly, players from the Sun, Alice Turgoose and Dorothy Barker were able to perform well.
However, this was easily compensated in the form of a 7-2 victory achieved by the visitor’s team Severus B and its players Michelle Kelly and Wendy Atkin.
Much alike was the fate of Christine Waddington, playing for Swan but remained deprived of grabbing the victory badge, as opponent Shepherd A took the game with a 6-3 win.
