Faysal Bank Super 8 – Hawks v Stallions – Match Recap
Sialkot Stallions have beaten http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792 Hawks by a comprehensive margin of 33 runs in a group A fixture of the Faysal Bank Super 8 T20 Cup 2011, at the Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, on June 27, 2011.
It was thoroughly a team effort by the Stallions as the batsmen and bowlers equally contributed and showed that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808 in their opening
match of the on-going event.
Azeem Ghumman won the toss for the Hawks and surprisingly opted to bowl first. It was a strange decision as the teams batting first in this tournament have been served well.
The Stallions were off to a blistering start through their openers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mansoor-Amjad-c74284. The former played in his typical way and was sent back to the pavilion after a brisk cameo. However, Amjad, who has also represented Pakistan in limited overs
cricket, took the charge after the demise of Nazir and played some stunning shots.
None of the Sialkot batsmen were able to play a http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Richard-Griffith-c41953 innings but they all made important contributions to help their team’s cause.

Yousuf remained the top scorer for Sialkot as he scored 48 runs off just 35 balls in which he struck a boundary and four massive sixes. Malik and Amjad scored 39 runs each and did not waste any scoring opportunities.

Chasing a big target, the Hawks were off to a flying start through http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Azeem-Ghumman-c1112. Both of them had scored 75 runs in just seven overs before Ghumman was bowled by Sarmad Anwar. At one stage, the openers looked extremely dangerous and they
seemed to have given a big advantage to their team.
However, the middle order batsmen failed to capitalize on the great start and lost their way. Ironically, apart from the openers, just one batsman reached double figures and as a result, the whole team was bundled out for just 150 runs in the 19th
over of the innings.
Sharjeel remained the top scorer with 74 runs off just 41 balls with the help of five fours and six huge hits out of the park. He seems to be a great prospect for Pakistan cricket in future as the youngster has all the shots under his belt.
Sarmad Anwar, who had a miserable match against Lahore Lions, was the pick of the bowlers for Sialkot as he claimed three crucial wickets after giving away just 23 runs in his four overs. Left-arm spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdur-Rehman-c41691, also shined with a couple of important
wickets.
Anwar was named as the Player of the Match for his brilliant spell of bowling for the Stallions.
