Faysal Bank T20 – Islamabad Leopards v Karachi Dolphins – Leopards post 131 runs against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dolphins-c781 – Match Update
In the ongoing Faysal Bank T20 tournament, Islamabad Leopards posted 131 runs while batting against Karachi Dolphins at National Stadium, Karachi on Thursday, September 29, 2011.
After winning the toss, Islamabad chose to bat first against a very formidable Karachi side to post a daunting target against them.
Openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nauman-Masood-c78862 gave their side an impressive opening stand as they posted 37 runs before suffering the loss of Raheem’s wicket on the penultimate delivery of the fifth over. The batsman played a smashing innings of 22 runs off 15 deliveries
before he was caught behind by Karachi wicketkeeper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Sami-c77289.
In the ninth over, Karachi struck again when skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 grabbed the wicket of opener Masood on 20 runs. The batsman was caught by Sami when Islamabad had managed to post only 65 runs on the board.
With two wickets down, Islamabad needed a solid batting performance from the batsmen to challenge the Karachi batting line-up.
However, Karachi kept a firm hold on the game as the bowlers kept snatching wickets regularly to restrict the opposition from batting at will.
After the openers it was only middle-order batsman Moed Ahmed who showed some resilience against the Karachi bowlers as he crafted a handy innings of 21 runs off 17 deliveries.
However, he lost his wicket in the 10th over when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Faraz-Ahmed-c56773.
With three wickets down for 73 runs, Islamabad were in a spot of bother and needed to halt the bowling onslaught unleashed by Karachi to avoid a batting collapse in the match.
Nonetheless, in the end, the batting side managed to post a challenging total and it would be interesting to see how Karachi bat to grab a win from this fixture.
With the presence of hard-hitting batsman Afridi in the ranks of Karachi Dolphins, they have little to worry as the 31-year-old all-rounder has been in commendable form this year and if he gets going once Karachi come out to bat he would wreak havoc on the
opposition.
