Fear of Strangers...?

Question

I have a fictional character who has a fear of strangers. I was wondering, how would one who had that fear and ADHD act in public? As in not shy, but actually afraid. And how long would it take for them to trust someone they don't already know? How would their school and social life be affected? If she did make friends, would she get clingy to them?

She would tend not to act out in front of strangers.  Withdrawal behavior caused by fear will usually usurp her hyperactivity behavior.
