Well I have a flight coming up in August with Allegiant Air.I am absolutely terrified.I have never been on a plane before and i suffer from Panic disorder so it just seems like it is making worse. Was wondering if there are any good FREE programs out there like online stuff that would help me or any tips anyone could give me.Also wondered if ther was anything geared towards finding a flying buddy.I think it'd be easier going with someone who's experiencing the same thing I am

  1. well i dont know any web site but my dads a pilot and i fly planes... im 15 :P i know its safer than driving down here, theres a lot of idiots down here driving cars also but too be a pilot you have too be somebody :P

  2. Fear of flying can cause a lot of anxiety and stress. It's good you are trying to combat those fears now before your flight in August.

You might be able to find a flying buddy by asking the Airlines itself or posting on a board like craigslist.org.

Here is one resource for a fear of flying course:

    Best wishes!

  3. I have panic disorder as well and was nervous about my first flight. I would really suggest getting some medication if you don't already have it, because a plane is the worst place to have a panic attack, and if this is a strong fear, rituals might not help. If you can't get medication, practice taking deep breaths and get your mind somewhere else and envision that nothing is going to happen during the flight. keep the window shade down, and whatever you do, don't look outside. Keep breathing the whole way if you ever feel nervous. good luck.

  4. I would speak to your Doctor. He/she can let you know of any medication that you can take and other services available in your particular area.  But, honestly, you being this worried about it, you are going to be your own worst enemy.  Work on some calming techniques (whatever works for you) or take an anti-anxiety pill (as prescribed by your doc!) before you fly. Please do not board the plane if you think you are going to have a panic attack.

  5. Sweetie,do what everyone else does. Drink up! Drink just enough to not be flagged off the plane.

  6. Just remember, flying is the safest way to travel. You have a far better chance of getting in a car crash on your way to the airport than you do of having a plane crash.

  7. I don't know about anything free (and it's gonna sound like I'm pushing you to take pills, but this is all I know that's worked for me), but go talk to your doctor and he should prescribe you and anti-anxiety medicine to take the morning of the flight.  In addition to that, I usually take a few Dramamines because not only does it cure motion sickness, it will help you to just sleep for the whole flight.  Like I said, I know it sounds like I'm pushing drugs on you, but it's the best way I know and I get really bad anxiety about flying!!
