Fear of jumping from heights?

I have this fear of jumping from heights, as low as 4 feet. I don't think I have fear of the height itself as much though. (I don't feel scared when I'm just standing or walking around on an elevated area) My friends all clear these jumps easily. how do i get past this?

  1. I wouldn't call 4 feet a height but if you are afraid try 1, 2, 3, 3.2, 3.6, 3.8. 4ft.  Did you injure yourself once from this height?  I have a fear of real heights which is very dibilertating and horrendous so my fear is you are joking.

  2. Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia - is a fear of long words

  3. Visit a counselor. They will take you to a tall story building with windows at the top and you will stand at the top right near the window and stretch your arms and before you know it you will be cleared of your fear. Try it, it works! It has been proven. I also have a fear of tall heights but 4 feet doesn't scare me. More like 8 ft. & Above

  4. if your talking about dropping from somthing just do it and youll be fine, if you mean bicycle jumps then you have to practice and be careful

  5. well i near had a fer of jumping fro heights but i did have a fear of hieghts and i conquered that fear when i fell off a ski lift about 9ft high but i was only 8 yrs old

  6. maybe its just a phobia. i dont like it either.

  7. jump from somthin 4 feet tall and build up 2 a higher place 2 jump. just tell your self its not that high and its not gonna hurt.

  8. its a good fear to have

  9. Repitition. Start at the max that you are allowed. Then go up a foot at a time after you do a certain height for a series of jumps. Mind barriers are broken by repitition.

  10. just jump... It seems higher than it is because you are always above your feet... don't close your eyes though, you could break an ankle just by stepping off a curb. but it is definitely a fear that is overcome by confronting it. I've worked 60 feet in the air and I am not comfortable with heights, but I overcame it. ... my knees still shake a little. I was also on an unstable scissor lift haha.

I went skydiving too, that is a little different, but hey you never know if your chute wont open.

  11. It is quite simple really. All you need is courage and a chair.

The only way to conquer your fears is to face them.

The only way to conquer a great fear is to face it gradualy.Step by step every day until you conquer it.

Start from jumping from small heights such as 50cm high chair and slowly increase the height to a maximum of 1.50.This is the maximum safe height to avoid leg injury for a healthy young man but the risk for injury cannot be completely avoided. There is always a risk.

My advice is jump on the bed from from height or some other soft surface. In time you will conquer your fear.

  12. go sky diving
