  1. Im not sure of the name, but alot of people have this phobia. Im usually nervous before the shot, but when it happens, its not so bad. Good luck though! Biting my tongue really hard used to help me out.

  2. I used to be terrified of shots im 13 now.  When I just turned 10 i remember going to the doctor 5 days after.  I was terrified.  I remember the doctor was like it seems you need shots this year.  I had tears rolling down my face but i didnt flip out.  I looked at the wall took a deep breath and he put it in me and i didnt even have an anxiety attack or anything...its okay.

  3. Aichmophobia is the fear of needles or pointy objects. There is no specific phobia for the fear of shots. Also, the fear of vaccinations specifically is called vaccinophobia.

and also while there doing the shots just think its only a prik and then its over..myself i find shots to feel good in a weird way? and its really not so bad think about somthing you love doing instead of shots!!!or make a funny face ! thats always fun or just "pretend" to laugh about it if it really does hurt!! im 15 also and i used to be terrifed of shots

  4. It's okay to be nervous when getting a shot

but you should know that your parents would never let you get a shot unless you really need one and they woundlt put you in any danger at all. Though if you are really afraid of them somtimes you can get pills for certain shots that do the trick but most of the time you need the shot. I mean its not so bad and it only hurts for a second then you dont have to worry about it for the rest of your life :)

  5. i have the same thing and i am 30 yrs old. What i do everytime i go and have to get a shot i think to myself what i could catch out there from not protecting myself or my family by doing this!? It hurts going in but, after you get it your more than happy that it is over!! Take a DEEP breath and once the needle go in breathe easy think about something that else you had planned for that day that is very time consuming...by the way i am a MA ( Medical Assistant) we had to give each other needles everyday i had to pray to stay in the field of work i am in.  GOOD LUCK TRY IT!

  6. I think it is simply fear of the unknown.

When I was in nursing school I was terrified of learning to give shots because I was afraid to get them myself.

As soon as I learned how to give a proper injection my fear of getting shots vanished.

Learn all you can about the injection process. Ask someone who is in the profession to explain it to you first-hand. Once you see what you are dealing with, and understand the components of a syringe and what actually happens, you too may lose the fear of needles...

  7. This is a real phobia many people have.  I suggest you invest some money and time to see a therapist who delsl with phobias such as yours.  They may suggest somehting like "exposure therapy" where they gradually desensitize you to what you fear while talking about how to better control your reactions/emotions that surface.  There are other methods of psychotherapy that could hep...check into it with a Licensed Clinical Social worker, psychologist, etc.  Good luck!
