Question:

Feathers as accessories for royalty?

I don't know what these pieces are called and that's my question. I've seen pics of British women wearing feathers in their hair at formal functions. Camilla wore something similar on her hat at her wedding. Prince William's cousins wore them to Diana's 10th celebration. What are these called and wear can I find one?

  1. I never knew they had a name for it but i know what you mean. They are made to match the colour of the fats.

  2. I think the word you might want is a "Fascinator" They can be made differently, but usually feathers are a feature

  3. I'm not sure exactly what you mean. It was court protocol for women who were being formally presented at Court to wear 3 ostrich feathers as a headdress with their formal presentation gowns. This custom has died out.

The other use of feathers is the heraldic crest of the Prince of Wales, which displays three feathers.

Feathers as a trim on formal hats are common, and not worn just by royalty.
