Featherweight contender Jonathan Brookins to face Rani Yahya at UFC on Fuel TV 1 – UFC News
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will be hosting its debut event on Fuel TV next year. UFC officials have announced that UFC on Fuel TV 1 will be held on February 15, 2012 in Omaha, Nebraska. It has also been announced
that American mixed martial art (MMA) fighter Jonathan Brookins will face Brazilian MMA fighter Rani Yahya in the featherweight bout at UFC on Fuel TV 1.
On December 15, 2011, the UFC management officially announced the confirmation of the bout between Yahya and Brookins. The bout is going to be an important one for both the fighters. They have lost their respective fights. For
them, a win is necessary to give them leverage in the featherweight division.
The 26-year-old Brookins has been the winner of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 12 in December 2010 when he defeated Michael Johnson. He would returned to the featherweight division when he fought Erik Koch at UFC Fight Night in September
2011.
His featherweight return was unsuccessful as he lost the bout by a unanimous decision. For Brookins, this bout at UFC on Fuel TV 1 would be an important one as he would focus on winning his featherweight victory in the UFC.
Yahya, on the other hand, would also eye a huge win. He would have set his focus on Brookins ever since the confirmation of his bout. Yahya lost his seventh bout in August 22011 at UFC 133 against American MMA fighter Chad Mendes.

Over the past year, Brookins has been shifting from one weight class to another. He went into the lightweight class to take part in TUF, which he won. His strategy had worked but when he came into the featherweight class, his tactic
was not successful. At UFC on Fuel TV 1, he would try winning the bout to prove himself right for his decision to return back into the featherweight category.
For Yahya, it would be imperative that he secures a win over Brookins. The Brazilian MMA fighter has only won a single bout out of the four he took part in from December 2009 to August 2011. Both fighters would want to make an
impact as UFC hosts its debut event on Fuel TV.
