Febby Angguni ensures her presence in quarter-finals of Indonesia International Challenge
Women’s Singles shuttler Febby Angguni played impeccable badminton in the second round of Prim-A Indonesia International Challenge and gained access to the round of eight on July 4, 2013.
She was up against Ana Rovita and their meeting lasted for 62 minutes in local badminton complex of Surabaya. Both shuttlers displayed great fighting spirit and finished this tussle with a nerve-racking result of 13-21, 21-4 and 21-11.
The opening game of this pre quarter-final contest belonged to Ana whereas the ending two games were dominated by the top seeded shuttler Febby Angguni.
The battle heated up when the lower ranked Indonesian campaigner played aggressive badminton in the establishing rallies of first set. She did not give her rival enough time to get settled and pushed her on back foot with a series of power packed strokes.
This intensive invasion helped her to establish a psychological edge and she used this advantage in next couple of rallies. Ana did not stop at any stage and piled up a mountainous figure of 11 before the interval.
After the mid-game break, she prevailed in many consecutive rallies and widened the gap on points table. Her eight-point lead proved a decisive factor and she won this set of match with 21-13 score.
However, she failed to go with same flow in the following games as Febby turned her plans into dust by displaying superior badminton skills on court. This time the prime Indonesian shuttler Febby did not repeat previous mistakes and employed a flawless strategy.
She started the beating after establishing a strong grip over game and finished first half of the set with a significant margin of 11. She did not show any mercy in latter part of the game and swept the table with an unassailable lead of 17 points. This
overwhelming total of 21-4 boosted her confidence and she played with even more conviction in the decider.
Third set of match was also a one-sided affair as Febby maintained a convincing difference of ten points throughout the set and sealed her victory with 21-11 score on the board.
Now she will lock horns with Dinar Dyah Ayustine in quarter-finals of Indonesia International Challenge.
