Febby Angguni reserves second round berth in Indonesia International Challenge – Badminton news
Women’s Singles expert Febby Angguni relished full benefits of home ground and marched into second round of Prim-A Indonesia International Challenge after winning her opening match on July 3, 2013.
She was up against Lim Chiew Sien of Malaysia and their meeting prolonged to 38 minutes in local badminton arena of Surabaya, Indonesia. The native shuttler played flawless badminton and gave her supporter a solid reason to celebrate by putting an impressive
result of 21-13 and 21-17.
The Indonesian shuttler laid foundation of her supremacy in the opening game and served the notice of her dominance in second set of match. On the other hand, Lim Chiew looked completely out of touch throughout this tussle and faced a disgraceful straight-set
defeat.
Febby, who holds top spot in this tournament ranking, proved herself superior by establishing a strong grip immediately in the beginning of first set. She did not give her rival enough time to get settled and confounded her with an intensive attack.
She pocketed many valuable points in a row and piled up a decent total in no time. This initial lead helped her to rule the court in next couple of rallies. She finished first half of the set with a mountainous figure of 11.
After the mid-game break, Febby played with even more aggression and widened the gap on points table. She maintained a significant difference of eight points and won this crucial game with scoreboard flashing 21-13 margin in her favour.
The second set of match brought little bit life back into the contest as the Malaysian campaigner also showed some spark and challenged her opponent.
This time, Lim Chiew played with conviction and remained equal on the points table. She did not allow her competitor to enjoy a permanent lead till the half time.
However, things got changed in latter part of the game as the Indonesian shuttler struck hard and tip the scale in her favour. Febby prevailed in many consecutive rallies and gained a decent advantage in the final stage.
She placed a winning figure of 21-17 and earned the right to contest in pre quarter-finals of Indonesia International Challenge.
