Febregas wants to leave Arsenal

Arsenal who were once known as the invincible, in the 2003-04 season, when the went the whole season without losing a single game, but since then things have changed dramatically, there has been not silverware for Gunners for the past 5 seasons, Febregas who was making his way up the packing order those days as a teenager, and did not get the limelight in the glory days, now the leader of men at Arsenal, he believes he is not getting his worth as his team is simply not able to win a trophy, and who can blame him, despite Arsenal being termed as a team who play the most beautiful one touch football, they have nothing to show for it, people would rather settle for ugly long ball one nil wins, with trophies rather then beautiful football with nothing to show for.

For the past few years Febregas had openly expressed his love for the gunners, and said he will stay as he thinks there are better days to come, as he believed in what his manages Arsene Wenger was doing, who is a pro at harnessing young talent, and producing world class players, but still the lack of experience is there, the trophy drought is what caused the great king of Highbury Theirry Henry to leave, and the following season, their inspirational leader Patrick Viera also left the Gunners in pursuit of better things, and more importantly it was the European aspirations which made him make his way to Ital for Juventus.

But ironic as it may seem, Arsenal beat Juventus next season on their way to the European final, although did not win it, but was a slap in the face for the Frenchman, and Viera till this day has not been able to win in Europe, even though did enjoy domestic success in Italy with Inter Milan later on. And after showing patience for years, the Arsenal captain has decided it probably time to move on, and look for more. Febregas who is a childhood Barcelona fan, he witnessed his first Barcelona match when he was only 9 months old, and the lure of joining arguably the best club in the world is a bit too much for him to resist now.

It is ear that Barcelona are to get their man, as confirmed on their website, and the Midfielder is believed to be closer to making a decision which will see him leave for Catalonia, as he has told his friends that he is thinking of leaving. If Arsenal relents, they will make a demand of at least £30 million, as he has a long-term contract remaining at the Emirates. Barcelona on he other hand claim that the Spaniard made clear that if he decides to leave Arsenal it will only be for Barcelona, while Joan Laporta, the Barcelona president, said:

“It’s remarkable that a player should commit himself in this way. If the club technical staff believes we need to make the extra effort and sign him, we’ll speak to Arsenal”.

Arsenal this far have refrained form commenting on the issue openly, but all thing point to an exit for Arsenal Captain, as he rejoins his roots at Catalonia.
