The Danish striker of Arsenal, Nicklas Bendtner has claimed that February 2011 is a crucial month for them as it would make or break their season.
Arsenal are the only team in Europe which is competing in four different tournaments and had an action-packed January in which the Gunners played nine matches.
They are currently placed second in the Barclays Premier League, only five points behind the table leaders Manchester United. Arsenal will start February with a Premier League match at home against Everton. The Gunners will also play Newcastle United, Stoke
City and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the month.
Arsene Wenger’s men are also through to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 win over Huddersfield and will play their next Cup match against Leyton Orient in February.
Moreover, the Gunners won a two-legged Carling Cup semi-final against Ipswich Town in January and will face Birmingham City at Wembley Stadium in the second month of 2011.
Furthermore, Arsenal will play the Union of European Football Associations Champions League round-of-sixteen first leg against the Spanish Champions Barcelona in the same month.
Nicklas Bendtner believes that February will decide the fate of Arsenal’s current season.
He said, “This next month is a bit of a decider. Two cups will be decided and there are matches which will have a massive influence on the Premier League as well. February is a big month for us and at the end of it we will see where we are at. Hopefully
it will all look fantastic.”
Despite beating Everton earlier in the first half of 2010-11 season, the 23-year-old Danish striker claimed that Arsenal would need to be at their best in order to claim all three points against the Toffees.
Bendtner added, “It is always difficult to play again so quickly. We have played a lot of games, but we are sportsmen and this is what we have to do. We have to be up for the challenge and be ready.”
Bendtner also praised his team’s performance and said that the Gunners are performing well and would hopefully be rewarded with at least one silverware by the end of the month.
