Fed cup and Williams Sisters?

Is it just me or has anybody else noticed that Serena and Venus, especially Serena, only plays fed cup when the USA are playing teams that have no chance. I remember seeing her playing against a Belgian side that had no Henin or Clijsters in it and there was a great oppertunity for her to play against Russia in the Semi finals this week because she's clearly not injured and she's in great form. What do you think the reason is for this? I think if the top ten or twenty players all played fed cup for there country it would be a great tournament but I dont even bother watching it anymore because you rarely see good high quality ties anymore.

no she's not injured,but she did play alot of tennis in a small period.....the week prior to Indian Wells she played bangalore,then the two weeks in miami,then another week of grueling play on clay in charleston. not to mention the travelling in and of itself. i think she had already decided since she was committing to family circle she just did not want to overplay herself before heading to europe. and in the clay season,for an american,that's a smart move i think.

but i dunno about your theory though. i mean she hasn't even been playing that many tour tournaments,these last few years,in a single calendar year let alone skipping a fed cup here and there.

**lindsay was still dealing with that flu she caught from her son at amelia so it completely screwed up her preperation.

I think scheduling has to do a lot with it.  If the Fed Cup weren't in Moscow, maybe they would have showed up.  And where was Lindsay Davenport?
